Hourglass game

The Hourglass Game is a sensory panel that uses fine material placed in the transparent part of the device. A child can set the panel in motion and then watch as the contents pour between the parts of the hourglass and form changing patterns.

How does the Hourglass Game support child development?

Observing the slow movement of the fine particles engages attention and visual perception, while manipulating the panel develops hand dexterity and hand-eye coordination. A child can experiment with the position of the device and observe how it affects the direction in which the material pours.

The panel offers a calm sensory activity that does not require running or climbing and can be used by children with different movement abilities.

Playing with the Hourglass Game supports:

visual perception,

concentration and attention,

fine motor skills,

hand-eye coordination,

observation of cause-and-effect relationships,

The Hourglass Game allows a child to experience movement and change through simple, calming sensory play.
